Biochemistry laboratory analyzer

What biochemistry lab analyzers do

Biochemistry lab analyzers, also called clinical chemistry analyzers, measure the concentration of chemical substances in patient specimens such as serum, plasma and urine. Common test groups are enzymes, electrolytes, proteins and metabolic analytes such as glucose, cholesterol and urea.

Most methods are photometric: a reagent reacts with the analyte and the instrument measures the change in light absorbance. Results are quantitative, and the laboratory reports them against its reference ranges after calibration and quality control.

How laboratory analyzers and rapid tests complement each other

An analyzer belongs in a laboratory with trained staff, reagents, power and a quality system. It gives numeric results for many analytes from one specimen.

Lateral flow tests work differently. A rapid test gives a qualitative result for one or a few markers, near the patient and without an instrument. Many services use both: rapid tests at the point of care, and the laboratory analyzer for quantitative follow-up and monitoring.

Analyzer inquiries are handled with partner manufacturers

First Diagnostic™ Corporation brands and distributes rapid tests; it does not make analyzers. Analyzer inquiries are handled with partner manufacturers on request, and no models are listed on this page.

Specifications, test menus, regulatory status, installation and service are defined by the manufacturer for each model and country. Contact us with your laboratory type, the tests you need and the destination country, or see our services for how inquiries start.
